Umeco plc, the provider of value-added distribution services to the aerospace and defence industries, has for the second consecutive year been named Best-Managed Small Aerospace Company in one of the industry's most prestigious global awards events.
The award is announced by Aviation Week and Space Technology, the world's leading aviation and aerospace magazine. It judges the performance of companies in the aerospace sector in areas such as asset utilisation, productivity, financial stability, sales and profits which make up the 'Competitiveness Index' on which the awards are based.
Clive Snowdon, Chief Executive of Umeco, said: "We are very proud to be acknowledged in this way for the second year running. The managers of all of our businesses have excelled themselves over the last year in the face of continued strong growth in outsourcing in the aerospace sector in the UK, US and, increasingly, in continental Europe. My thanks go to them and their employees for maintaining such a strong performance again this year."
Kenneth E Gazzola, Executive Vice President of Aviation Week added: "The Best-Managed Companies rankings are a report card for determining how well management is running the business in the light of current and future competitive requirements. This year`s winning companies set a standard for the entire global industry."
The award will be published in the July 10 edition of Aviation Week and will be presented to Clive Snowdon at the Aviation Week Fourth Annual Best-Managed Companies Awards at Farnborough Air Show on 25 July 2000.
Umeco was the only UK company to win an award this year; the other award winning companies were as follows:
